F.Y.I. only .. below is an excerpt of the current Ontario Building Code as it applies to tents.
Please Note that Tents LESS than 645 sq. ft. in area that are placed a minimum distance of 3 mtrs (9 ft. 10 inches) from any other tent or structure DO NOT REQUIRE a building permit, and therefore do NOT come under these regulations. (See definition of the term "building" and etc. at the bottom of this page).
Since our marquees all have sidewalls (and therefore are not exempted by 3.13.1.2, sentence 2, specifically item D), drawings of the supporting framing structure and anchorage systems ARE required as per 3.13.1.7. (NOTE for 2006 -These must now be done by a currently certified professional engineer).
The Reunion Committee makes application for the required permit covering all the tents at the Reunion, so please include the required Engineer's drawings and Fire Certificates with your Registration. Also, please ensure that the fire rating Tag is affixed to your marquee.
PLEASE SEND YOUR REGISTRATION IN ON TIME so that Control has enough time to design the layout (site map) to meet with the regulations and file all required paperwork for the permit application with enough time allowed for the approval process.
....Remember, no Permit, no Reunion
In closing, as you are all aware, space on the fields is extremely limited, and since tents less than 645 sq. ft. in area must be spaced out by 10 ft. so that they will be exempt from said building code requirements (namely the requirement for engineer's drawings of their structure and anchoring systems) we would appreciate your not using a tent any larger than is absolutely necessary for your Contingent so that we can make them all fit.
Also PLEASE REGISTER ON TIME ..Control has a lot of work to do once ALL tent dimensions are in ... Late registrations of canvas means re-doing the whole layout.
